What is a Breast Lift?
Over time, the skin may lose its elasticity due to factors such as pregnancy, breast feeding, or weight loss. If you are happy with the size of your breast but would like to lift them up and firm them you can choose to have a Breast Lift. If you are not satisfied with the way that your breasts are and would like to increase the size, lift them up, and firm them, implants can be added during a Breast Lift procedure.
Who should have a Breast Lift?
Some conditions that make you suitable for a Breast Lift includes a lack of firmness in the breasts, areolas and nipples that point down, or breasts that are the right size but hang down.
Sometimes breast shape and lack of elasticity is due to inherited traits. If one breast develops different from the other or is a different size or shape than the other, a Breast Lift can make a different. If the breast of heavy and large in size, you can get a Breast Lift but the results may not last as long
Consultation
Dr. Pillai will consult with you first to make sure that Breast Lift surgery is right for you. During your consultation, Dr. Pillai will examine, measure, and take photographs for your medical records. Things that he will carefully consider include the quality of the skin, the location and possible placement of the areolas and nipples, as well as the size and shape of the breasts.
You can prepare for your Breast Lift consultation by studying your medical history providing Dr. Pillai with information on any medical conditions you have or had in the past, any drug allergies, any medication treatment you are currently taking, and any type of surgery you have had in the past. It is also important to include any breast biopsies as well.
If you want to lose weight, you need to discuss this with Dr. Pillai because the weight loss can affect the shape and size of the breasts. You may need to lose the weight you want before you have a Breast Lift.
If you choose to have the Breast Lift surgery you will need to prepare ahead of time. Dr. Pillai may recommend that you have a mammogram before the surgery and a complete examination.
If you smoke, on an aspirin routine, or take anti-inflammatory drugs, Dr. Pillai may need you to stop before the surgery. If you smoke or take any of these medications you need to discuss them in your consult.
Breast Lift surgery is usually an outpatient procedure so be sure you have someone to drive you home and to stay with you for at least one night.
