What is Juvéderm?
Juvéderm is a filler that is made up of a combination of natural complex sugars and hyaluronic acid that injected into certain areas of the skin in order to create a smooth appearance. Over time, and due to aging, the skin loses natural hyaluronic acid which speeds up the aging process in skin.
When this happens, Juvéderm can make a difference in your appearance. Other areas also affected include the grooves located between the cheeks and the nose or the lines that form around the mouth.
The Juvéderm gel works by injecting the gel solution with a syringe that goes deep into the dermis, the subsurface layer on the skin. This area contains the nerve endings, connective tissues, blood vessels, and sweat and oil glands. The gel substance that is injected can make the skin feel firm and thus reducing the lines and wrinkles.
The effect can last up to nine months. If you want the effects to be longer, you could do a follow-up treatment within a few weeks of the first injection.
There is a chance of side effects form the use of Juvéderm that includes discoloration of the skin, firmness, swelling, bruising, and bumps forming, The side effects are rare but if they occur they should go away shortly after appearing.
