Should you consider Liposuction?
Not very many people can look in a mirror today and be happy with what they see. Obesity is on the rise and more people are attempting to make the efforts to lose the weight. However when you lose the weight, your body may not tone up and firm the way that you would hope it would. Liposuction may be the option for you.
This cosmetic is a cosmetic procedure that will break up the fat and suck it out from different parts of the body. The most common problem areas for fat to hide are in the abdomen, the thighs, buttocks, chin, neck, the upper part of the arms and the back of the arms. You can also find fat stored in the calves and on the back.
A cannula is a hollow instrument that is placed underneath the skin. A vacuum containing high pressure is then applied to the cannula and the fat is sucked out.
Is this a common procedure?
Liposuction is a very common cosmetic procedure
performed by Dr. Pillai. This procedure is performed in the United States as well as the United Kingdom. Each year there are over 400,000 procedures done in the USA alone.
Patients who have gone through the Liposuction procedure usually have a body weight that is holding stable and not fluctuating continuously. Liposuction is not a way to lose weight and should not be considered treatment for obesity. It will not remove the cellulite, stretch marks, or even dimples. Liposuction will only improve the elasticity of the skin in order to shape the body.
Liposuction will remove the fat cells that have been building in the body. This will automatically alter the body shape. After the surgery, it is very important that exercise and a special diet be followed in order to continue the process and complete the look. If not, the fat cells will continue to grow.
If you suffer from fatty tumors called Lipomas or if you are a man who has developed fatty breast tissue then Liposuction may be the answer for you. Liposuction also works for those suffering from Lipodystrophy syndrome. This is when the fat metabolism is disturbed and there is too much fat in certain areas in the body and the complete absence of fat elsewhere.
Before the Procedure
If you choose to have Liposuction done, you will need to prepare for this procedure ahead of time. If you are taking an aspirin regimen or anti-inflammatory medications then you need to stop at least two weeks before your procedure is scheduled. Ask Dr. Pillai if you should stop taking your contraceptive pills prior to your procedure. If you suffer from anemia you will need to take iron supplements and be sure that you read all the instructions carefully before signing the consent form.
After the Procedure
You will most likely stay in the hospital overnight after having liposuction done however Dr. Pillai will talk with you about staying if he feels it necessary. You will need to wear support bandages for several weeks after the procedure. Dr. Pillai may prescribe antibiotics as well as pain medication. It is important to take all medications as prescribed.
